Rene Thornton-Leonard, DDS

Dr. Rene’ Thornton-Leonard is a highly skilled orthodontist who is passionate about improving the lives and smiles of her patients. She received many honors while attending Howard University in Washington, D.C., where she obtained her undergraduate and dental degrees along with her orthodontic training.

With over 20 years of experience treating children and adults, we trust that her fun and friendly approach to orthodontics will put patients and parents at ease.

Dr. Thornton-Leonard relocated to the Atlanta area in 2002 with her spouse and two daughters. In her free, time she enjoys spending quality time with her family and traveling.

Ryan Price, DMD

Dr. Price, originally from Augusta, GA, Dr. Price attended Augusta State University where he earned a degree in Biochemistry with honors. Upon graduation, Dr. Price attended the Medical College of Georgia where he received his dental degree.

Dr. Price remains dedicated to continuing education to make sure he provides the highest quality of care to all his patients. He also is a member of the American Dental Association and Georgia Dental Association.

Ulpa Patel, DDS

Dr. Ulpa Patel has been practicing dentistry in the Atlanta area since 2001. With over 22 years of chairside experience working with children ages 13 and older and adults of all age ranges, she strives to promote healthy dental habits and prevent diseases from starting or spreading.

In addition to general dentistry services, she enjoys working with the latest dental technology, like the digital iTero scanner. Dr. Patel strives to ensure that each patient receives the best that modern dentistry offers, making the patients' experience better and more comfortable while still maintaining the quality of the treatment. As a dentist, Dr. Patel believes it is essential to build a professional relationship with each patient to understand their dental needs and interests.

She is a member of the American Dental Association and the Georgia Dental Association and has attended several advanced training courses and programs in restorative dentistry and offers comprehensive exams, diagnoses, treatment plans. She also enjoys doing cosmetic and restorative dentistry, such as implants restorations, veneers, crowns, bridges, partials, and dentures.

Dr. Patel and her husband have two teenage sons. Outside the office, she enjoys hiking, traveling, watching and playing different sports, doing community service, and spending time with family and friends. Apart from English, she is fluent in Hindi, Gujrati, and Punjabi.

Suraiya Rahman, DMD

Specialty: Periodontist

Dr. Rahman completed her undergraduate degree at Emory University where she obtained a B.S. in biology in 1993. She then received her dental degree (DMD) from the Medical College of Georgia in 1997. Afterwards, she pursued a specialty dental degree in periodontics at Harvard University, graduating in 2000. While in residency at Harvard, she further increased her proficiency while working at the Children’s Hospital in Boston and the Forsyth Dental Center.

She has won awards for her research in dental school and she published papers on implants and diabetes and also about the submandibular gland. She also became a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, which is the highest status that a periodontist can attain. Dr. Rahman is also a member of the American Academy of Periodontology Association, American Dental Association, and the American Board of Periodontology.

Dr. Rahman has taught and been in clinical practice since 2001. She taught periodontal residents, dental students, and hygienists for many years while at University of Southern California, Loma Linda University, and Fresno City College. She was also in private practice while teaching and she enjoys treating patients in both surgical and non-surgical methods.

Though she ventured outside of the state for some of her studies, Dr. Rahman was born and raised in Georgia. She now lives in Johns Creek with her husband and two children. In her free time, she enjoys singing, swimming, and gardening.

I firmly believe it is our responsibility to instill trust and confidence during our patients’ initial dental experiences and throughout their entire adolescence. I pride myself in promoting shared decision-making and working together with parents and families to optimize care for their children.”
